<main> <article class="userContent"> <p><strong>Routed Mode</strong></p><p>Routed mode should be used when you do not intend to use a stand-alone router with your SmartRG modem. Routed mode adds router functionalities onto the modem. This will allow your modem to assign IP addresses through DHCP, route traffic over multiple ports, provide WiFi if it is a 505n, 515ac or 516ac model, maintain a PPPoE session, and provide firewalling.</p><p><strong>Bridge Mode</strong></p><p>Bridge mode should be used when you intend to use your own stand-alone router in addition to your SmartRG to perform routing functionalities and WiFi. Once your modem is bridged, you will need to setup your router to perform PPPoE authentication.</p><p><strong>PPPoE</strong></p><p>Your PPPoE login credentials are a username and a password that you receive on sign up. These credentials are used to gain access to the DSL network you are connecting to.
